Mapforge Terms of Service

By using Mapforge, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

Your Content and Permissions

You are only allowed to upload tracks, images and data that you created yourself or have permission to share. All uploaded material can become publicly available when you decide to share your map.

You retain ownership of your content. When you share or publish a map, you grant Mapforge a license to store, display, and distribute it as necessary to provide the service.

Prohibited Use

When using Mapforge, you must not:

Upload illegal, harmful, or offensive content
Violate copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
Upload malware, viruses, or malicious code
Harass, abuse, or harm others
Spam or send unsolicited promotional content
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or other users' accounts

Service Availability

Mapforge is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We strive to keep the service available and reliable, but we:

Do not guarantee uninterrupted access or uptime
May modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time
Are not liable for data loss or service interruptions
Recommend you maintain backups of important data

Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You can delete your account at any time by contacting mapforge@mapforge.org. See our Privacy Policy for details on data deletion.

Privacy

Your privacy matters. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we handle your data.

Third-Party Services and Data

Mapforge shows map data from other providers and sends requests to their services. If you use a feature that needs one of these services, the terms of that provider apply to you as well.

Do not remove or hide the credit in the corner of the map. The licenses of these providers require it. If you export a map or embed a map, keep the credit visible.

The Credits page lists every provider, library, font, and icon set of Mapforge, together with its license.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Germany. The service is hosted in Germany by Hetzner, and all data is covered by the European Union's data protection regulations.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Mapforge after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
